Robert Juodka @Estonia’s National Radio

2024-11-15

An with Robert Juodka – Chairman of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, a board member of the Lithuanian Defence and Security Industries Association, and Managing Partner at law firm Noewe Legal (foreign markets) – was featured on Estonia’s national radio (Vikerraadio, ERR).

The main topic of the interview focused on the situation in Lithuania, the government coalition, its publicly stated objectives, and potential actions to achieve them.

During the interview, the participants discussed topics such as a possible tax reform, scandals, value-based issues during the election period, strategies for attracting voters, and the second-pillar pension funds. Speaking about defence spending, Robert expressed the view that “the new government will likely continue the current trajectory of defence expenditures. At present, a private initiative is gaining traction in Lithuania, aiming to borrow €15 billion from financial markets to significantly enhance the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ capabilities within the next 2–4 years. Lithuania’s debt-to-GDP ratio, which currently stands at only 38%, allows this to be done without significant strain, as the average debt-to-GDP ratio in EU countries is approximately 80%. Therefore, such initiatives and the tangible steps toward their implementation are highly commendable!”
